She nearly came face to face with death as a car slammed right into her. Luckily, with cutting-edge technology, Jamie recovered with just a few scars and bionic parts. In fact, she was faster, stronger, and more powerful then ever before. Jamie must learn how to use her new powers for good and self-discover to see how much she was capible of doing. Chapter 6 - Functionalism: Ritualists (p. 157) - individuals who have given up hope of achieving society's approved goals but still operate according to society's approved means.
There is this professor at Georgia's Institution of Technology, her name is Dr. Howard. Dr. Howard was so inspired by the television show the Bionic Woman, that it introduced her to the art of creating someone like the Bionic Woman. At first, life was a little hard. She was told that the only reason she was in a specific college is because the college needed people with different interests (diversity). That was upsetting to her, so she summer internships kept her going. Now, Dr. Howard works hard doing what she loves. She is a chief technology officer and founder of a start-up. During the summers, Dr. Howard has a robotic camp for kids with disabilities, and she thought about quitting, but she did not. Pulling herself back up, she realized never to give up on her dream. Nobody should ever give up on their dream; a person is only happy when they know what true success feels like.

Chapter 8 - What Is a Minority?: Minority Group (p. 221) - social group that is systematically denied the same access to power and resources availability to society's dominant groups through they are not necessarily fewer in number than the dominant groups.
Jamie Sommer's old life was filled with happiness and success. she studied at Carnegie Tech, got her teacher degree, and was one of the best tennis players, as she was in the top five lady pros. Jamie reunited with her love Steven Austin, but that romance soon ended when Jamie went skydiving and darted towards the earth, because her parachute had ripped. Steven knew that they only way to save his love was with bionic parts, so he was quick to call his buddy who was head of the Office of Scientific Intelligence. Steven's friend was more than happy to help, but after the surgery, Jamie did not feel the same way about Steve. At the moment in time, Jamie is all by herself with only her one family member and Steve by her side to support her. She was denied to feel the same feelings she felt before the accident. She moved from the majority group (normal human being) to the minority group (bionic parts) just because of something dangerous that has changed her life forever. although sometimes the minority group consist or the different social groups, minority group doesn't always refer to a certain race or ethnicity. It could also be used as a perspective to see the big groups (minority) and the smaller groups (minority).

Chapter 10 - The Media and Political Process: Opinion Leader (p. 289) - high-profile individual whose interpretation of events influence the public.
The Bionic Woman influenced a lot of people to become a robotic designer or somewhere in the engineering field. Ayanna Howard was one of those people that got influenced by the show, and she followed the path of robotics research, designer, and educator. Howard has won plenty of awards in this field, and it all started with the show. Lyndsey Gilpin states in her article about Mrs. Howard saying: "I decided I want to build a bionic woman. Imagine, I'm 12 years old." She realized in her high school years that she didn't want to be in the field of "bionics", but instead robotics. Amazement was found in her eyes when she realized how much robotics could improve the world. Howard got an internship with NASA and now is a professor at Georgia Tech. Bionic Woman shaped Ayanna Howard's decision in a good way which allowed Mrs. Howard to go after robotics pursuing what she loves.

Chapter 4 - Closing Comment: Agency (p. 121) - the ability of the individual to act freely and independently.
Lindsay Wagner is the woman that plays the role of the Bionic Woman. she grew up in Los Angeles with a father who did photography and a mother who was a building contractor, but the happy family soon split when Lindsay was just 7. One day she was babysitting for a family friend James Best who was on The Dukes of Hazard. She stubbled upon the job when Best told her to join acting classes just at the age of 12. Linsey started modeling, working for her aunt, and working with Linda Gray. Wagner then signed with Universal Studios as she only played small characters with not many lines. Her first role as the min character was in the show the Bionic Woman as she got to play the role of Jamie Sommers which soon became the Bionic Woman after the incident. the world around us is always changing and influencing us to follow certain paths. We take that which is called agency and turn it into what we want to do. Although Lindsey Wagner bumped into the thought of being a actress, she followed what she wanted and had that feeling of freedom and independance.
